Electing Climate Champs in VA
CCAN Action Fund Proudly Endorses Virginia Climate Champions
We need a climate majority in Virginia. As supporters of CCAN Action Fund, you know that control of state government is essential to moving forward on climate. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce: CCAN AF is fighting for a Virginia House of Delegates that will have a pro-climate action majority. We need YOUR help to make it happen.
A climate majority in 2020 and 2021 allowed us to pass the Virginia Clean Economy Act, join the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, and implement Advanced Clean Car Standards. Since then, however, Governor Glenn Youngkin and his allies in the House of Delegates have been trying to roll back those gains and defeat commonsense legislation like expanding community solar. Now, more than ever, we need to get back our climate majority.
CCAN AF has analyzed newly redrawn districts and identified three candidates running for House of Delegates who are committed to fighting climate change and essential to securing a climate majority.

Meet Our Climate Champions
Aaron Rouse (Senate District 22)
“”Lower income communities in Virginia Beach and Norfolk experience some of the worst flooding and other climate-related impacts… As a Virginia State Senator, I take this issue incredibly seriously and I intend to lead on it.” — Aaron Rouse
Susanna Gibson (House District 57)
“As a Nurse Practitioner, every day I see the impacts of climate change on our community. I understand firsthand that we must protect our environment to ensure healthy and prosperous communities. I am proud to stand with CCAN and partner with them on this important mission.” — Susanna Gibson
Kimberly Pope Adams (House District 82)
“I know firsthand the tremendous impact that unchecked corporations and pollution can have on a community, especially a majority-minority community. As a legislator, I will support policy and legislation that will address the disproportionate effects that climate change has on low-income and communities of color, especially as these communities are more likely to face health problems and infrastructure emergencies due to climate effects.” — Kimberly Pope Adams
Phil Hernandez (House District 94)
“I am the Democratic Nominee running for the Virginia House of Delegates in the 94th District. I was born and raised in Hampton Roads by a single mom, attended public schools, and was the first in my family to graduate from college. As a father to two young girls, I am invested in making Norfolk a better place to raise a family. I have experience as a nonprofit leader, worked in the Obama administration, and have spent my career fighting for public education, promoting clean energy, and economic opportunity for all.” — Phil Hernandez
Michael Feggans (House District 97)
“I will protect our environment and support, renewable energy jobs to support and combat, reoccurring, flooding, and sea level rise and promote resilience in coastal Virginia. In addition, as a veteran, I know firsthand the importance of advocating for a high tech transitional skills training for my fellow veterans to pursue quality jobs in the community, especially those in clean energy.” — Michael Feggans
