In order to be considered for CCAN Action Fund’s endorsement, candidates must meet the following requirements:

1. Candidate Questionnaire

This election cycle we created a questionnaire in partnership with coalition partners that examined candidate opinions on our key issues and their policy position on these key issues. Along with coalition partners, we share the questionnaire with all candidates who filed for office. Incumbents are encouraged to fill out the questionnaire, but can be considered for endorsement based on the other requirements.

2. Independent Research & Due Diligence

The CCAN Action Fund team conducts independent research as part of our endorsement process. We review the candidate’s previous statements, public voting record, social media, and other public information that can support our understanding of a candidate’s positions and approach.

3. Candidate Pledges

We are collecting signatories to our candidate pledges on our priority issues throughout the election season. Our pledges are as follows:

  • A commitment to a state-level requirement for data centers to be powered by 100% clean energy
  • A commitment to supporting the RENEW Act, the legislation that will charge the largest most polluting fossil fuel companies with some of the costs related to climate adaptation

Candidates must commit to moving forward at least one of these priority issues in order to be considered for endorsement.

4. Interviews

As needed, we schedule meetings with candidates to clarify their positions and determine if an endorsement is appropriate.
