The Costs of Denial: Too High for Hampton Roads

In coastal Hampton Roads, the costs of inaction on climate change aren’t a future threat, they are a present reality. A new video released by the Center for American Progress provides a great overview of the “slow-motion disaster” that residents of Norfolk are already experiencing, as climate change causes sea levels to rise and residents deal with the impacts of frequent flooding and more destructive storms.

Watch the video below. Then, if you are a Virginia resident, make sure that you are prepared to vote on November 5th. Virginians face stark choices in the upcoming election when it comes to climate change. As the narrator in the video reminds us, “Ignoring climate change won’t make the problem go away. It will just make it harder to fix.” Click here for more information on getting to the polls on November 5th and voting for candidates who take this crisis seriously.
