Presser noon today: MD enviros say Ukraine bolsters need for climate bill in Annapolis

As Ukraine War Pushes Up Gas Prices, Top Maryland Environmental Leaders Will Challenge Legislators to Pass Strong “Climate Solutions Now Act”

Monday noon press conference will highlight the need for a strong bill as climate change accelerates and fossil fuel price spikes hurt vulnerable Marylanders. Speakers will include Chesapeake Climate Action Network/CCAN Action Fund, Sierra Club, Maryland League of Conservation Voters, and Chesapeake Bay Foundation as well as Chris Parts (AIA, LEED AP, Principal – Hord Coplan Macht) and Ben Roush (Principal – FSi Engineers, Baltimore)

ANNAPOLIS –  As climate change impacts worsen and war in Europe triggers spikes in fossil fuel prices, top Maryland environmental leaders will gather for a zoom press conference Monday at noon, February 28. Their message: The General Assembly must keep its promise to pass “bold” and “historic” legislation on climate change this year.

Polluting industries have used inaccurate claims to attack this year’s top legislation, the Climate Solutions Now Act – SB 528, introduced by Senator Paul Pinsky (D-Greenbelt). Environmental leaders and featured experts will set the record straight on Monday while expressing conditions for their continued support of the bill.
