Advocates and State, Local, and Federal Officials to Celebrate Passage of Historic Climate Action Package in Congress

RICHMOND –  With Friday’s passage in the U.S. House of Representatives of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, the largest effort to-date in our nation’s history to address climate action and expand clean energy, local advocates will join local, state and federal officials Tuesday, Aug. 16 to celebrate this major victory and highlight the impact this legislation will have on the lives of Virginians.

Advocacy groups include: Virginia League of Conservation Voters, Sierra Club – Virginia Chapter, CCAN Action Fund (advocacy arm of the Chesapeake Climate Action Network), Blue-Green Alliance, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 666, Fossil Free Fredericksburg, GreenTeenz, Virginia Clinicians for Climate Action, Virginia Interfaith Power and Light, and Rise for Youth. 

Elected officials, or their representatives, include: Richmond Councilwoman Katherine Jordan, State Senators Ghazala Hashmi and Jennifer McClellan (staff), Delegate Sally Hudson, U.S. Rep. Donald McEachin (staff), and others TBD.
